Mediation & Interpretation

For a company going global, launching itself in a new marketplace comes with a set of numerous challenges, some predictable, others unpredictable. Of the predictable challenges, the most common and immediate challenge is that of language. WIthout this fundamental ability to communicate in an easy, efficient and timely manner, there is no moving forward. Good, effective communication is a key ingredient for successful business practices, and is critical for any company that wants to engage in essential tasks such as:

  • To initiate and enter into dialogue with potential business partners.
  • To enter into and safeguard interests in commercial agreements.
  • To resolve quickly and smoothly any conflicts that arise inside or outside the company.
  • To communicate effectively with the local company employees.
  • To build competent teams that communicate and cooperate with each other productively to reach the larger goal.

Interpretation

An interpreter is a linguist with a firm command over at least two languages. Their job is to translate vocal conversations between two parties, while keeping in mind the rules of grammar and the specific dialects being spoken. But a skilled interpreter must also have a thorough understanding of the cultures that accompany each language. They must be sensitive to the multicultural experience since the gaps they fill are not just linguistic, but cultural as well. A good interpreter must be able to communicate multi- dimensionally: not only the spoken, but also the verbally and culturally implied. They provide a space for people to really connect almost as if there had been no linguistic or cultural barrier at all in the first place, thus enhancing relationships between people and improving the outcomes of such associations.

When your business takes you abroad, the use of a professional interpreter is crucial for conveying information in all situations, especially information that is vital to your business. Not only does your access to an interpreter allow your business to reach more clients and collaborators, but Interpreters also mitigate risks by enabling you to make informed business decisions. Consequently, disregarding the role of an interpreter could prove costly for your business at a later stage. Acting on incomplete or inaccurate information can reflect poorly on your company or brand’s reputation, and can negatively affect business relations.

Our interpretation services

Our mediators are native speakers of one language of the language pair that they are skilled in, and their fluency in the other is tested against high professional standards in order to ensure your satisfaction. They are trained in different industry specific terminology, so that there are never any gaps while you discuss the technical details of your business. They are highly dependable, conduct themselves professionally and stay by your side at all times: accessible at any point and effortless at bridging communication. They are flexible with their availability, and can operate at your corporate location.

Our mediation services are commonly requested for fairs, meetings and conferences, business dinners, business trips, educational courses, legal proceedings etc. We offer different interpreting styles, each of which are appropriate for different professional settings and situations.

Consecutive Interpretation

As the name suggests, in consecutive interpreting the interpreter begins to speak after the original speaker has finished a sentence, or has completed a part of his speech. The interpreter listens to the source language speaker, and consecutively translates what has been said into the target language. The interpreter may either memorize or make notes of what has been said until the next pause, when the opportunity for them to translate happens.

This form of interpretation is the most requested when dealing with a limited number of people. It is ideal for closed meetings, business negotiations and presentations, guided tours etc.

Negotiation Interpretation

In Negotiation interpretation, the interpreter translates back and forth between two languages, for the benefit of both the parties that are involved in a negotiation with each other. The interpreter verbally translates from the language of one party into the language of the other, and then again translates the other party’s reply back to the first and so on. This way, the interpreter translates and facilitates the whole negotiation every step of the way.

This form of interpretation is ideal for business negotiations, client meetings, company visits by foreign nationals etc. Our interpreters are available to accompany you on your trips both at home and abroad.

Whispered Interpretation or Chuchotage

Chuchotage, from the french word ‘Chuchoter’ meaning to whisper, is a form of simultaneous interpretation, where the interpreter sits close and whispers or speaks softly, translating to an individual or group at the same time as the original speaker is speaking. The speaker does not wait for the interpreter, nor does he make pauses for them to translate.

This form of interpretation is more suited to meetings where among the many present, only one or a few people need translating to a different language.
